Welcome to the wholesome wanderers podcast life musings with Dannyelle and James, talking all things holistic wellness, parenting, relationships, intimacy and life on the road.

James Tansey 0:21

So come along for the ride as we unravel life's lessons and knowledge gained as we've grown together as a family in this journey called life.

Dannyelle Tansey 0:32

Welcome to the first episode of the wholesome wanderers podcast.

James Tansey 0:36

Yeah, welcome Guys.

Speaker 1 0:38

In this episode, were just going to give you a little bit of an introduction, to you get to know us a little bit, to know what we stand for what we're all about and what to expect and look forward to in this podcast. So to begin with, just a little introduction to who we are and what we do. We are Dannyelle and James,

James Tansey 1:05

the wholesome wanderers, is what we go by.

Speaker 2 1:08

Yeah, so I'm James, I'm a mens wellbeing coach. My main focus essentially is helping dads to have a stronger bond with their kids, a more intimate and fulfilling relationship with their partner and a healthier connection with themselves. I do this mostly online through programs that I run, where I focus on the Dad, I dont focus on business and I dont focus on what he's big life purpose is. I strip it Right back to who he is, his values. Just helping him build that family. Strong family bond unit.

Dannyelle Tansey 1:27

Foundation,

James Tansey 1:52

build the foundations within himself. Yeah.

Speaker 1 2:01

And I'm Dannyelle, I'm a Holistic Therapist. I work with mums to empower them with a balanced mind body spirit connection. I aim to show mums. what sole care is compared to self care and how it is a critical part of feeling alive. But I also really focused on it doesn't have to be like time consuming and require quiet time away. From the children because that's not always possible. And instead, what I really focus on is that what it involves is making some lifestyle and mindset changes to really create a more harmonious way of life and living to really help women, mums, find what lights them up, especially in the season of life that they're in and to be able to embrace that instead of fighting against it. I also help them to release trapped emotions and trauma, to overcome the belief systems and negative patterns that are really keeping them stuck and to discover who they truly are in this moment, and what this does is leads to a life where you experience more joy and fulfilment and flow, not just for themselves, but for their family. So this is with the family unit in mind, because we know how much the mum holds the family unit together and when she's feeling balanced and in flow, that flow on effect into the family is incredible. And the other aspect that I really focus on as well is teaching the next generation these type of skills and ways of thinking to break the generational cycles of stress and unhappiness and everything else that our modern society today is experiencing, and that so many of us are trying to break. I offer my services online, through one to one services and also through programs individually and group programs as well as a membership.

James Tansey 4:34

Yeah, so together, as you might have heard me say earlier where the wholesome wanderers, we're a family of five plus dog and a cat who travel on the road with us, its all they know, and living full time now bus travelling Australia.

Dannyelle Tansey 4:51

We've been together for 20 years, so a long time

James Tansey 5:03

very, very long time.

Dannyelle Tansey 4:57

And we've been traveling for five years as well. So it's a very different type of lifestyle and approach to life and very much in the slow lane, which we love.

James Tansey 5:07

And we don't travel conventionally at all. We didn't start this journey as full time travellers to see all the big attractions and rush and trade essentially, one busy lifestyle for another busy lifestyle. we knew we needed something different, took the leap and take our time as we travel around and don't rush and just enjoy each other's company.

Speaker 1 5:38

yep. And through that time as well. So our kids are six, nine really 10 and 11 Turning 12 later on in the year. And together we've been navigating the challenges and the highlights of being a neurodivergent family as well. So with all of that life experience that we've got, and obviously our skills and our knowledge as well that we've we've learnt and added into our toolkit. We are bringing that to podcast. So that's the sort of things that we'll be talking about our life musings. So our life lessons the knowledge gained, as we've grown together as a family. We're also really sharing all

Speaker 2 6:32

the things we do within our business services through mindfulness, holistic wellbeing, emotional wellbeing, mindset and relationships and parenting.

Dannyelle Tansey 6:43

And everything in between

James Tansey 6:44

everything in between, as A husband and a wife and man and a woman.

Dannyelle Tansey 6:48

Yeah, and then our lifestyle as well. So life on the road in the bus as well. So we've we've done life on the road in a few different ways. So we will be sharing kind of a little bit of all of that and how we we remain connected and not irritated. At each other all the time by being together constantly. we also unschool so we'll be sharing aspects of that as well. And just like conscious living and taking a holistic approach to things,

James Tansey 7:24

especially how we do that on the road.

Dannyelle Tansey 7:26

Yeah, it's definitely more of a challenge on the road, but

James Tansey 7:31

it's doable. It's getting easier.

Speaker 1 7:32

So much easier than when we first started. Yeah. We'll also be having special guests here. Probably once a month. And that's something that we're really looking forward to.

James Tansey 7:48

Its a big lists might be a bit more than once a month to get through that list.

Dannyelle Tansey 7:54

Maybe we'll see

James Tansey 7:56

the aim is for once a month we'll have a special guest on

Dannyelle Tansey 7:59

Yeah, and there'll be a mix of fellow traveling families and different practitioners, coaches, all sorts of different things is in the plan for that. So we'll be having weekly episodes released on Saturdays, except for a throwback Thursday episode which will obviously be released on a Thursday with the plan for that one being the second episode of the month.

So the types of things you can expect from the episodes each week and over the course of the month will be lifestyle and bus life based. As well as a sort of holistic well being topic where we'll cover like a mix of topics and things that are really personal to our own life's journey. And also based on everything that we do within our business and all that sort of thing. So we really don't do labels, but we're really big on just living in a balanced sort of way but it's not a balance that means perfect, but you could kind of consider some of the topics that we'll talk about to be woowoo, alternative or hippy, that sort of content. Some of it could get a little bit controversial.

James Tansey 9:20

Yes, I would say it will get controversial.

Dannyelle Tansey 9:23

Yeah. And we could potentially toe the line of like conspiracy theory type topics as well which we know we always like to dive into that type of thing.

James Tansey 9:32

to be open and to be ourselves

Dannyelle Tansey 9:34

Yeah, exactly.

And so our throwback Thursdays will pretty much be

James Tansey 9:42

thats a long throwback.

Dannyelle Tansey 9:43

It is, could be they could get interesting. Yeah. So they'll just be like a mix of different times in our life. From when we first hit the road

James Tansey 9:57

to how we overcome relationships, issues, parenting issues,

Dannyelle Tansey 10:00

to navigating losing everything in a fire. That was a really big aspect of our life as well. So that'll definitely be thrown in there. And basically, like any moments that stand out for us that have really taught us a lesson will have really highlighted lessons and growth along our journey as well. And just to be able to share how we've got to the point in life that we're in, really and then hopefully, that might help someone else

James Tansey 10:34

someone who can get some lessons, a shortcut and bypass troubles, issues and not have to have the same thing in their lives struggle. So to at least make them a bit easier

Dannyelle Tansey 10:49

or shorter lived.

James Tansey 10:51

And also to share that everyone goes through it.

Dannyelle Tansey 10:55

Yeah, that to, yeah,

James Tansey 10:56

no one's perfect. No one has a perfect life. Something we want to share.

Dannyelle Tansey 11:04

We are also gathering questions from our followers and our listeners.

James Tansey 11:10

big list of Questions.

Dannyelle Tansey 11:13

And also just other questions that we've been asked along the journey a lot of times, so that's kind of going to be, you could call it a frequently asked quite frequently asked questions

James Tansey 11:25

recurring ones regularly get on?

Dannyelle Tansey 11:28

Yeah.

James Tansey 11:29

We will discuss.

Dannyelle Tansey 11:31

Yeah.

And you know, we're always open to people asking questions as well that they would love to either hear us answer or one of our guests as well. So that's that brings us to the other sort of topic that will be covered through the month is is our guests.

James Tansey 11:52

Yeah, so basically we've got a big list of guests.

Dannyelle Tansey 11:58

Growing

James Tansey 11:58

we are roping some people in gotta make other people uncomfortable as well.

Dannyelle Tansey 12:03

Yeah.

I'm really looking forward to the guest episodes because we're going to chat with people who, you know, have got similarities to the way they do things to us. Or things like that, but they'll always have a different approach and they'll always have different lessons and different knowledge and I'm really excited to to expand our knowledge through that as well as sharing it with people who are going to listen along

James Tansey 12:31

Yeah. and Ask some questions that might get a bit uncomfortable and ask some questions that we won't have a clue about and learn some new stuff.

Dannyelle Tansey 12:41

Yeah.

So yeah, I'm I'm really looking forward to those, it will be really interesting.

James Tansey 12:47

yeah so what we'll do is we'll put the an I suppose a post up, put it out there prior to the guest being on so you can get a bit of an idea of who it is and any questions you'd like us to ask them that you can fire away at us.

Dannyelle Tansey 13:03

Yeah. So far, I've got like a range of people who have reached out already, but from travelling families, fellow bus families as well, but not all besbust families. It might be people in caravans or camp trailers or other ways of doing it as well. And also like yoga teachers, doulas, personal trainers and also people who have also experienced or are specialists in the neurodivergant arena as well.

So yeah, a good mix of people on the list already.

James Tansey 13:39

It's gonna be good. Yeah. So basically we're keeping it real on this podcast.

Dannyelle Tansey 13:45

real and raw

James Tansey 13:46

theres gonna be mistakes, there's gonna be some swear words dropped. uncomfortablemoments.

Dannyelle Tansey 13:55

Lifes never perfect. So even though you know we work in this area of helping other people. It still doesn't mean that we're perfect. We make mistakes. We certainly have days where we don't perhaps, practice what we preach. But we always come back to it. And I think I think that's kind of the biggest life journey anyway. It really isn't it it's you learn and each time growth is literally each time, You make the same mistake. You come back from it quicker. Yeah, you're just going to get us real and honest. Life is, life on the road isn't much different to life living in a house or you know the normal life. Anyway,

James Tansey 14:40

not much changes to see backyard really.

Dannyelle Tansey 14:43

Yeah, like there's some amazing highlightsthat happened and we'll definitely share them. But there's also challenges that come with this lifestyle as well that you don't get living in a house.

James Tansey 14:54

its not always glamour

Dannyelle Tansey 14:58

But we've lived through both lots of challenges as well. So we'd certainly overcome our share challenges while we lived in a house or houses, yeah so all that sort of stuff is going to be to be shared. We will kind of have dot points for episodes, but there won't be super scripted so you never know what you're gonna get.

James Tansey 15:17

It might go off course a bit but thats just part of the journey really

Dannyelle Tansey 15:27

the dot points will be there So we don't get stuck not knowing what to say. We if we get stuck or also to bring us back on track when we do get stuck .so that, because yeah, we can go off on some tangents. And I don't think we're quite at like Joe Rogan level where people are gonna listen to us for like four hours. So we'll rein it in and keep it on topic or bring it back to on topic if we go off on too many tangents so yeah, we might not be everyone's cup of tea either.

James Tansey 15:59

might offend some people.

Dannyelle Tansey 16:02

We don't do small talk. It's it's a waste of my time, our time and we just don't do small talk. It's it's real. Or it's nothing.

James Tansey 16:10

Well, the whole idea behind this is to go deeper into the conversation around lifestyle in general, life in general. Yeah, it's not just going to be about bus life as we said it's going to be a whole aspect of living holistically as best we can. Best other people can

Dannyelle Tansey 16:30

and then sharing and learning while we're doing these podcasts, basically,

James Tansey 16:35

people share and learn with us.

Dannyelle Tansey 16:38

Yeah, so that's kind of bringing us to where we can be found on social media.

James Tansey 16:42

Yeah well Im James, as you know, so I can be found @the_wholesomeman on Instagram. That's where I share very raw, my experiences as a father as a husband as a man and all the things that I've learned to essentially that have helped me become the man I am. I'm definitely likely said I'm not perfect. make plenty of mistakes and I'm honestly sharing that. in the hope to inspire other men to just put their foot through the door and see what's on the other side of when you start improving yourself and working on yourself.

Dannyelle Tansey 17:38

And I can be found @the_wholesome_souls and that’s where I share all the aspects of my business of the holistic therapies, that's where I share all aspects of my business of the holistic therapy and also the different things that I do in everyday life that helps bring balance to my state of being, even with living in a small space together, even with being with each other and with the children all day, every day. And I share that in hopes that it helps other people realize that you don't always need to have other mums I shouldn't saying you always need to have your free time to be able to do these things to create that balance for yourself. So that's my biggest life lesson. Actually, my kids teach me a lot. They do. They really help. In many ways. They've got so many lessons to share.

Dannyelle Tansey 18:42

And then the bus page is @the_wholesome_wanderars is which has an underscore between each word as well. Where we share all things in our life.

James Tansey 18:56

Yes, that's the broad picture of everything. Share a bit from our own socials into that. So it's not just Buslife. It's everything about our lives. We like to just play it safe, I suppose.

Dannyelle Tansey 19:13

And we travel so differently to so many people. We go against the grain a lot. We don't follow the crowd. We don't follow the sun. Obviously, we've gone south in winter, may be regretting it a little somedays, but anyway. Yeah, and we also like we're not out on adventures all the time filling every day with stuff and things and doing. We spend a lot of time just chilling and being

James Tansey 19:47

Being, connecting as a family

Dannyelle Tansey 19:51

going for walks and bike rides and that sort of thing. So on the bus page, you're not going to just get campsite reviews. You're not just going to get all the attractions and the highlight reel. You get us just living and being real. Sometimes you get a few meltdowns from one of us get shared as well because we literally keep it real. Yeah, that's the bus page.

James Tansey 20:17

You will get the odd nice picture

Dannyelle Tansey 20:21

Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. It's not all doom and gloom. Sorry.

I'm kind of painting a very doom and gloom picture there aren’t I. But what I mean is you get real you get us in all of the things that we share. It's not just podcast, but Instagram as well. We don't just use that as a highlight reel. Yes. The highlights get put there. Absolutely. Yes. You can see the low lights are there

James Tansey 20:38

Yes but the low lights are there to. Its all about Balance, the magic word

Dannyelle Tansey 20:46

Yes. That's probably a little bit of a dig at every conversation that we have It comes back to well, its all about balance, isn't it? So you'll probably hear us say that a lot.

And then we have our website, which is thewholesomewanderers.com where you can book into our services or programs. We've got a blog post on there as well. And on there

James Tansey 21:12

And this podcast will be going on there too, just in case. When we do talk a bit more controversial stuff in case we get deplatformed or whatever they call it

Dannyelle Tansey 21:28

Yeah good old censorship. Just as a backup or just another place that you can listen to it rather than on all the podcast places that are out there. I'm still very much learning about the podcast platforms. So I found that on Spotify, and I've got that working.

James Tansey 21:45

That’s a win, that’s a win for us.

Dannyelle Tansey 21.48

it should be on all the other ones once I work out how to connect them as well.

James Tansey 21:53

Yeah, there's also one of the Facebook groups so theres conscious families traveling Australia. That groups has gone. Crazy. Yeah, its absolutely going off.

Dannyelle Tansey 22:05

Basically it's a safe place to come and speak

James Tansey 22:09

your truth

Dannyelle Tansey 22:11

Your truth Yeah. And ask questions without judgment. There are very specific questions that need to be answered for approval into that group which keeps it a safe space for the open conversation that can't always be said elsewhere without repercussions, repercussions is that the right word

James Tansey 22:30

or even Judgment from fellow social media people really, its turned into a nice safe space. Once again, that'll be going on to our website. Same again in case the censorship police decided to crack down on it. We're hoping not but

Dannyelle Tansey 22:50

Yeah even just so that topics that Facebook doesn't like can be discussed as well. And then a you've got your Mens group

James Tansey 23:01

Yes conscious dad's traveling Australia so that's essentially the Brotherhood group with the Dads from the families that all joined it. It's to give dads a, especially on the road. I know for mums it can get quite lonely but dads also, so I thought id create a group dads who jump on, have a chat and I also put up a monthly challenge. Nothing big or too scary but enough to stretch the men, help them learn more about themselves. And about relationship building and I don't want to go into it too much because it's quite a secret. Not a secret.

Dannyelle Tansey 23:47

It’s a safe place

James Tansey 23:49

Yeah it’s a safe place But the challenges involve family members at times and I don't want to ruin it for anyone so ill leave it at that hey. Before I do ruin it

Dannyelle Tansey 23:59

Its also I think for the men, Yeah, it's it's a challenge for the women on the road to because we don't get any time alone. But I think for the men, it's the stopping like so many men have stopped work. quite quick like

James Tansey 24:16

Yes,

Dannyelle Tansey 24:17

quite close to hitting the road as well. And so that's like, Well, what do I do? Now? You know what I mean? So

James Tansey 24:25

So what often happens and we might go off tangent here,They will fill that void. We've spoken about this where essentially it's becomes like a full time holiday and we know how we will get when we're used to going on holidays. We let certain things slide. Yeah.

Dannyelle Tansey 24:46

It's to help help break those sorts of cycles that can happen and just help the mindset of, well, I'm not working now what do I do?

James Tansey 25:57

Yeah.

Dannyelle Tansey 25:58

And again, that will be also hosted as a backup or alternative as well. It doesn't have to be a backup it can be used instead of the Facebook group.

Yeah, and that basically brings us to the end of our podcast.

James Tansey 25:15

Yeah a nice short one

Dannyelle Tansey 25:17

Yes. So just just what to expect is all this one was really about but if you would love us to chat about anything in particular, any topics or questions that you've got. We've got the Q & A section at the bottom of the podcast. You can send us those questions there or you can connect with us on social media pages as well. And let us know what you'd love us. To chat about, or any guests that you'd love us to have on as well. Yeah,

James Tansey 25:47

Yeah obviously not too famous just yet hey

Dannyelle Tansey 25:51

Or any type of guest Yes, yeah. So like if there's someone in particular in this obviously not we're not gonna go to a sports person. Or something. Like it's got to be specific to what we're talking about here. So, yeah. We hope you enjoy and

James Tansey 26:10

get some benefit out of it and learn just as much as we will.

Dannyelle Tansey 26:16

Yeah. Awesome. See you next episode guys. Thanks for listening.

James Tansey 26:18

Alright cyas later
